| "From serene views to thrilling spills!" |

November 2005 - Any winter trip to the town of West Yellowstone and Yellowstone National Park should include a day of snowmobiling! I've been a couple of times when having out-of-state visitors and on both occasions we've had fun, fun, fun. The park tours (with guides) are good in that you see a lot of wildlife up close and you get a different perspective of the geysers and overall landscape with the park covered in snow (and the added benefit of Yellowstone being much less busy than in the summer months!) The real fun to be had however is some self-guided snowmobiling outside of the park on the many public trails. Southwest of the town is an especially good area with loads of open meadows, bumps, jumps and more. Whereas snowmobiling in the park is leisurely and peaceful (as it should be), hitting the area trails outside the park boundaries can be as high-octane and adrenalin-filled as you choose.
