March 2008 - The Continental Restaurant and Martini Bar is located on the top floor of the upscale indoor mall, The Pier Shops at Caesars, in Atlantic City. Of the approximately eight restaurants to choose from, the Continental is positioned halfway down the strip and includes open and enclosed eating areas. The décor seems like a modern take on the 1970s’ take on space-age furniture and design. Nonetheless, the menu is an appealing fusion of French, Asian, and North American cuisine. Sitting down at a booth and looking through the menu, we decided to order appetizers, mains, and dessert all at once. Based on the prices presented on the menu we expected small portions; we could not have been more wrong. The Calamari salad was a massive six-person salad. The calamari tasted fresh and the soy flavoured dressing was crisp. It was a great salad and we took more than half of it home. We then shared French Onion Dumplings, Rad Na Thai Chicken, and Zucchini Fries. The fries were accompanied by freshly made spicy gourmet catsup. The dumplings were savoury and the Thai chicken was flavourful; we also brought half the chicken home with us. Dessert was Peaches and Cream. The entire meal cost $40 before tax and tip. The two us got about three meals out of this occasion. There are many good choices available at The Pier and the Continental is great selection.
