July 2007 - It is a challenge to find decent accommodations for the annual trip to the Boilermaker road race in nearby Utica. With over 17000 entrants (plus their support crews) landing in the small city of Utica, it was a pleasant surprise to find a room available at this Super 8 only two weeks before race day.
Being a Super 8, expectations were not high but all went well. Four male adults shared one room. Free wi-fi was found for the one with the laptop. Television connections worked fine for the one with play station. Ice and sodas were readily available. A shopping mall and fast-food restaurants were only a walk across the parking lot. With four smelly guys, it would have been nice to find a public washroom in the foyer or anywhere in the motel.
It was still a 35 minute drive to the race. However, in the past, I have stayed in far worse motels and had a much longer drive. This Super 8 would be a good plan for ‘08.
