August 2007 - Thanks to the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame and a revitalized downtown, Cleveland has become a bit of a tourist attraction. Still, business travel is the main reason visitors come to Cleveland and for those seeking convenience, reliability and affordability, it's hard to beat Holiday Inn.
The Holiday Inn Cleveland Airport is located just 2 1/2 miles from Hopkins International Airport and the International Exposition Center, a popular destination for conventions, exhibitions and other gatherings. It is also just a stone's throw from I-71, one of the major arteries in and around the city.
We arrived mid-week, mid-summer and found this hotel to be older, but still holding up well. Greeted by an exceptioinally friendly and professional desk clerk, we quickly obtained our room despite a line in the very small lobby. We found it to be clean and comfortable. Our only complaint with the room was that a low ceiling made it difficult for very tall people to shower. High speed internet access was available and we took advantage. As Priority Club members, we obtained a slight room upgrade which included a desk.
The hotel offers a free shuttle service to the airport, convention center and any other destination within a five-mile drive, which was a very nice perk. The only negative about the hotel, really, was the parking situation. There is little room at the front entrance to park while registering and most of the available hotel parking spaces are at the rear of the hotel, which makes for a good walk to any of the entrances unless occupancy is light.
Room prices vary, of course, but expect to pay $100-150 for a standard room.
