May 2007 - If you're ever passing through southern Oregon, a trip to the rim of Crater Lake (in the national park of the same name) is so, SO worth the out-of-the-way drive. If you're lucky and it is a still day, the view is jaw-dropping. I visited in early May when there was heaps of snow around (several metres at the top) and while this meant the visitor centres were closed, as well as the road all the way around the crater, the reflection of the lake with the snowy cliffs/mountains was unmatched by any other lake views I've seen. Just go.
