January 2007 - My daughter and I like to have a short getaway each year between Christmas and New Year. We had missed it this year because of the birth of little Will on December 21st. We decided to take Will on his first "overnight" at the age of seven weeks, and booked a room at the Harborside. Our room was perfect with a queen-size bed and comfortable sitting area on one level and a loft with king-size bed and second TV. A balcony looked out on Christie's Wharf and the harbor. The beds were fabulously comfortable! Every staff member was pleasant and accomodating - they even went so far as to let us run a load of baby bottles in the dishwasher. We enjoyed the fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies each afternoon, wine and cheese and crackers on Saturday night, and the offering of breakfast foods each morning. Free parking is a definite plus - many hotels in Newport charge $18 and up per day. The location is convenient to shops and restaurants that abound in downtown Newport. Would we stay here again? You bet!!!
