| "Anatomy of a Mangement Failure" |

by Bob (from Providence) March 2008 - We went to the Putney Inn for Easter Sunday dinner. They were obviously understaffed for one of the busiest days of the year. No one took our beverage orders, had to go to the bar for that. The overworked waitress took forever to take food orders and when the food came, it was incomplete and cold. The waitress refilled our partially consumed wine glasses, but didn't seem to care that she mixed two different wines, well at least they were both red... My lamb ($28) was supposed to come with mint sauce, and when I asked the bus girl she just gave me a blank stare. I asked the waitress and she just siad "no", and didn't bother to check with the kitchen. The Imperial Management seemed to be content to just observe the confusion, it being beneath them to bus or wait on tables. The manager seemed very apologetic and took my name and address, promising to get back to us. I'm still waiting to hear from them and suspect she just wanted us out the door. Mediocre food, apathetic service at a premium price sums up my experience at the Putney Inn.
