| "Looking for Dry Moorage? Not here!" |

July 2007 - We bought a boat in March of 2005. The boat was close to being brand new and was in immaculate condition. A close friend was a tenant at Foss Landing Marina and suggested their dry moorage. He was very pleased with the service, the convenience, and the wonderful staff. Needless to say, after checking out the brand new facility and wanting/needing the convenience (we are first time boat owners), we signed a contract and have been at Foss Landing ever since.
We use the boat VERY minimal, 5 times per year at the most. The first year, when we had our boat dropped in the water, we noticed some blackish colored drip marks on the boat. I brought it to the attention of a staff member. The staff apologized and said it was probably from the boat above us and they would take care of the problem. Each time we have taken our boat out, the boat seemed to be getting dirtier with the same drip marks on it. Last summer when the boat was taken out we were disappointed in the dirty appearance. The staff apologized. We were confused as to what it could be from. This year, we took the boat out (in July) and we were absolutely shocked and disgusted! The boat was covered in blackish filth! We were very disappointed and spent the day trying to clean it. After scrubbing it down as good as we possibly could, it was still very dirty and looked horrible. The blackish film covering the boat wouldn't come off but smeared around and made handprints and footprints everywhere. We bought the boat in perfect condition and seeing it now was unbelievable! After a week of calling for the manager and waiting to hear back, I finally spoke with him and found they were not taking responsibility. The "blackish film" covering our boat from front to back was supposedly caused by their forklift running and some exhaust. I was told it was a mixture of dust (which is expected) as well as the grime from the forklift. They will not clean the boat for us OR have it detailed to meet the original condition. We have paid close to $300 per month for 2 years in hopes to keep our boat in the best condition possible. Management informed us that it should have been expected and I should have had a boat cover for the boat. I paid for dry moorage and didn't believe I needed a "boat cover" to stay in a covered facility. We were also told that we should have washed/cleaned our boat more often - they have a washing area. We have used our boat minimal and should only see a slight build up of dust that rinses off or wipes off easily. Foss Landing has also stopped loading boats on trailers for their tenants, stopped dropping the boats in the water ahead of time with a phone call (last time I waited at the dock for approximately 30 minutes before we finally got the filthy boat in the water), and have recently raised their rates. As of today's date, they refuse to do anything about our boat's filthy appearance but have advised us that we should pay to get it detailed. When dealing with the manager I felt as though I was being talked down to as well as him being a smart-aleck the whole time. He also informed me that no matter who I spoke to (his supervisor as well as the OWNER of the company), I would get the same answers and he apologized that I am not going to be able to hear what I want. Apparently he was more then happy to let me come down and see the filth on the vehicles that park NEXT to the dry moorage on a daily basis and I would then understand that it is just from keeping the boat in the building with the forklift running. I am very unhappy with the way they chose to handle the situation and would not recommend ANYBODY to moore their boats in the dry moorage area. I'm also sad that after being a tenant there for so long, they would rather lose a regular tenant then have one of their employee's wash our boat.
DO NOT use this facility and expect that this will not happen because I was told that this grime gets on ALL the boats.
I am very disappointed.
